We gathered existing research sources, papers, videos, and articles on remote collaboration in healthcare and large interactive displays. This helped us understand the need to address:

  • Distributed healthcare information repositories and EMRs that impact the efficiency of healthcare services.
  • Unavailable asynchronous communication opportunities using large displays.
  • Difficulties associated with sharing healthcare information with compliance to HIPAA rules.

Without the knowledge of existing ecosystem pertaining to large multi-touch displays and remote collaboration practices in healthcare, we may not be able to efficiently bridge the gaps between the Prysm platform and healthcare collaboration needs. While, the literature review enabled us to see through all of this and also, meet client’s business needs.

Following the user interviews, we gathered our insights on a huge canvas. This helped us structure the data using affinity diagramming technique.

In our next step of the process, we created our target user group personas which enabled us to envision potential use cases and eventually brainstorm the ideas and concepts.

We arrived at two personas in our process — A nurse practitioner and a doctor. These personas emerged from our user interview discoveries that we made in the previous step. The nurse involves while educating other healthcare staff or junior staff about patient reports, history, and interacts directly with patient family members. While the doctor tries to seek expert advice on a patient case or collaborates remotely in a team with other healthcare staff.
